I’ve seen that second one on pictures posted here, but not live. If I ever saw a woman climb into the passenger side of one of those, I’d have to check in with her to make sure she’s OK (she’s not).

Believe me, I’m intimately familiar with both - I drive 294 from the Ike to O’Hare every day.

294 is stop and go, and there are places where you can move quickly, then it stops. This gives people an opportunity to be aggressive and get around a few cars here and there. The Ike (and Kennedy) are complete shitshows though.

I lived in Chicago most of my life, and learned to drive on expressways based on how IL-53, the Eisenhower Extension, and various other roads operated.

The biggest shit show in the morning, without any doubt, are the inbound Kennedy and Ike. I mean, it’s actually enough to take Metra in if your office is within a two block radius of Ogilvie (and you live somewhat near a suburban Metra station).

You must have been not too far from me - I grew up in the NW burbs, Mt. Prospect. I learned to drive on expressways in the same places pretty much, plus 294.

Also grew up 5 minutes from the Cumberland Circle - not so much a traffic slowdown as it was an accident creator.
